Chocolate Cocktails For Valentine’s Day - Posted: February 8th, 2009

Chocolate has always been a lovers’ treat. A great aphrodisiac, it should set up an evening of romance nicely for a loving late night tryst. This Valentine’s Day, why not raise the sweetness bar and delight in these deliciously indulgent cocktails?
Sweet, Lovely Death
Decadence is full steam ahead with the appropriately named Death By Chocolate. It’s certain to kill any craving for the sweets yet piles on the longing for being enraptured in your lover’s arms. To make it, bring out the trusty blender and pile on: one ounce of coffee liqueur, one ounce of chocolate syrup, one ounce of creme de cacao, one ounce of vodka, two scoops of chocolate ice cream and once cup of crushed ice.
Blend the concoction until smooth and pour into a stemmed glass (it’s Valentine’s after all). Top it with whipped cream and garnish with a cherry on top. If death was truly this sweet…
Orange Hint Martini
This sweet chocolate martini is my personal favorite. It packs the same decadent chocolate taste and infuses it with just a hint of orange for that flavor-tinged hit. Yes, it’s just as sweet but breaks it just enough to keep them longing for more. It takes a little pre-date preparation but should be worth every minute.
To make it, melt a few chocolate chunks in a pot with boiling water, making sure to simmer until all the chocolates are blocks of sweetness are liquefied. Pour that melted goodness into a plate and dip the rim of a cocktail glass in it. Chill in the fridge and save for later.
On your date, mix one ounce of vodka, half an ounce of creme de cacao and a quarter ounce of orange liqueur in a shaker with ice. Bring out the glass and strain the drink into it. Sexy, tasty and, hopefully like you, laden with a special twist.
