Earth day is just around the corner and, like many worldwide events, is best commemorated with a couple of cocktails that remind us what it’s all about. Twenty years ago, Earth Day was mostly celebrated as a way to remind everyone to recycle and plant trees. Nowadays, it’s about even bigger issues such as global warming, energy conservation and sustainable lifestyles.

These two drinks have been borne out of the times, with names and ingredients that truly reflect it.

Global Warmer

First mixed by bartender Michael Becker back in 2007, the Global Warmer is a way to remind people of the climate change we are experiencing in our planet. To make it, put together six torn mint leaves, an ounce and a half of bourbon, half an ounce of Triple Sec, an ounce and a half of sour mix lime and half an ounce of mango liqueur into a shaker with ice. Strain the mix into a cocktail glass then garnish with a lime twist and a mint leaf. Just as its name implies, its intended to light a fire in your belly and all over your body.

Organic Sensation

Nowadays, everything is going organic. Since our overdependence on chemical additives and mass-production have obviously done us harm, everyone’s going back to healthy and natural lifestyles. The Organic Sensation, with its refreshing fresh taste, is guaranteed to remind you how good “being natural” truly can be.

To make it, put together an ounce and a half of Square One organic vodka, half an ounce of maraschino liqueur, half an ounce of spa nectar, freshly-squeezed lemon juice and four fresh mint leaves. Mix well, strian into a chilled glass and garnish with a cucumber slice.
