Coffee Liqueur In Style: Disaronno Blends
- Posted: January 2nd, 2009

After hearty meals during New Year celebrations, I prefer my cocktails coffee-infused. While I’m never averse towards the fruity, festive drinks variety, my tastes always end up swaying the way of dark and bittersweet liqueur coffee.
I find coffee cocktails, particularly amaretto blends, give me both the buzz I’m seeking in the midst of jovial festivities as well as the perk my body requires to stay up till the wee hours, enjoying the moment’s every last drop. When it comes to sweet almond-tinged amaretto, of course, nothing beats the original Italian Disaronno, long the liqueur of choice for satisfying coffee cocktails.

Light Holiday Drinks

By BoozeMonger
The holidays usually come with more than gifts and cheers. Serious hangovers from too much drinking aren’t unusual and are often standard fare for holiday merrymakers.
If you’re looking forward to a busy day the next morning, you might want to cut back on the alcohol content of whatever’s going into your glass. If you’re looking to hold off on the buzz without putting a damp on the fun, these light holiday drinks might prove a better choice than most standard alcohol cocktails.

Champagne: A New Year’s Classic
- Posted: December 31st, 2008
By BoozeMonger
The sparkling wine from the Champagne region of France has traditionally been the bottle popped for festive celebrations. For many, culminating a New Year countdown is seldom complete without uncorking one of these chilled bubblies.
Champagne is characterized by varying sweetness levels, from the very dry Brut to the extremely sweet Doux. When choosing a champagne for your New Year’s party, you should opt for one of the sweeter bottles if you’re not planning to use it as a cocktail mix. For use with other spirits and liqueur in cocktail recipes, however, it’s always best to go with a Simple Brut (dry and no sweetness) or a Brut (very dry).

Spiced And Spiked Morning Christmas Coffee
- Posted: December 29th, 2008
By BoozeMonger
What better way to perk up from the tiring bustle of Christmas eve than a freshly-brewed cup of coffee, spiked with a hit of brandy and flavorful spices come early morning? Warming and sensual, the drink will stimulate your senses as you soak the scents and cheers of the special holiday air.
For the actual coffee drink, take one cup of ground coffee (mild roast preferable so as not to overpower the whole concoction), five teaspoons of cardamom, half a tablespoon of sugar, two teaspoons of ground cinnamon and a teaspoon of ground nutmeg. Put them into a coffee filter, add water (about 7 cups) and brew it as with regular coffee.
