Cocktails For Pittsburgh Steelers Fans - Posted: January 27th, 2009

While I haven’t heard of an official drink for Steelers fans, there’s little to keep fans from making their own anyway. Of course, fan mixes aren’t always the best, with drinks often ending up concocted with more fervor than actual taste. These two drinks are awesome symbolic cocktails for local Pittsburgh Superbowl parties that you might want to try instead of engaging in another hit-or-miss experimentation.
Steel Helmet
It’s amazing to find a drink that so perfectly represents a team’s colors. In the case of the Steelers, nothing does more so than the Steel Helmet. Essentially a White Russian with a helmet of spicy liqueur over it, this should work as a great cocktail that further reinforces the team spirit.
You can make the Steel Helmet by mixing one ounce of vodka and an ounce of coffee liqueur, topped with milk on a rocks glass. Add in a layer of Galliano liqueur on top (by pouring it over the back of a spoon) for an ominous-looking yet great-tasting drink.
Black & Gold Martini
This drink came from Blavod Vodka and features their stark black spirit mixed in with sweet cinnamon liqueur. To make it, pour two ounces of Blavod Vodka into a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake it vigorously before straining into a cocktail glass. Top it with Goldschlager and watch those golden flakes float around amidst the black martini. It looks so good you don’t even want to drink it.
