Celebrate Your Patriotism In Cocktails - Posted: January 19th, 2009

President-elect Barack Obama’s inauguration will see festivities commence this week while Martin Luther King Day falls on this Monday. That’s a lot to celebrate for American patriots everywhere and everyone can join in the fun by preparing any of these two US-themed cocktails.
American Dream
While most cocktails pack their personality in the drink itself, this one brings equal amounts in both the actual mix and the presentation. To make this star-spangled cocktail, buy white fondant from your favorite pastry supply shop and cut it into mini-stars Press the cut-out shapes to the inside of a cocktail glass and let it sit for five minutes.
Fill a shaker with one ounce of Pomegranate Liqueur, one ounce of black cherry rum, an ounce and a half of pomegranate cherry juice and half an ounce of fresh sour. Add ice and shake well until all ingredients properly mix. Strain the drink into the star-spangled cocktail glass and garnish with blueberries for extra touch.
Air Force One
We call this the Presidential Stiff but I think the original name sounds more palatable. To make the drink, add in two ounces of Hpnotiq Liqueur, one ounce of citrus vodka and half an ounce of fresh lemon juice on a tall glass. Top it with lemon-lime soda, stir well and add a lemon spiral for garnish. Here’s your drink, Mr. President.
